TRIAS GALLERY
After 15 years in Toronto, Trias Gallery has come to Oakville! Enjoying the vibrant community of the ‘Art at 80′ building at the corner of King and Spadina for many years, the gallery has recently moved to a stunning waterfront location at the base of the Shores Condominium in Bronte Village. The name ‘Trias’ is derived from the Greek number for three, representing the relationship between the artist, the dealer, and the collector.
Trias Gallery started as a partnership between Indira Roy Choudhury and Doris Gillick. Indira holds a Fine Art Degree from University of Toronto and an Education Degree from Queen’s. She has lived in Bronte with her husband, John, and son, Connor, for the last 14 years. In 2006, Doris decided to retire, moving from Toronto to Seattle with her husband, Pat Gillick, Baseball Hall of Famer and former G.M. of the Toronto Blue Jays. Doris remains very supportive of the gallery and the two stay in frequent contact.
All the while, Indira has developed a reputation for professionalism, trust, and integrity. The gallery mirrors these ideals with its membership with the Art Dealers Association of Canada. Never an advocate of the hard-sell, Indira excels at pinpointing her clients’ needs and sourcing for them the right piece. Clients also have the option to take art work on approval to consider in their home or office space with the added option of free delivery in the GTA and no obligation to purchase. Indira prides herself on making her gallery a welcoming place where the journey of finding the ‘right’ piece should be as enjoyable as finally making the acquisition.
While in Toronto, Trias Gallery, through the generosity of its artists, donated artwork to many charities and fundraisers, including: St. Joseph’s Hospital, the Children’s Aid Foundation and the Varley Gallery in Unionville. Indira is eager to create ties with local businesses and charitable causes to help promote Canadian Art in Bronte.
Beyond staging successful exhibitions at the gallery space, Trias Gallery was featured at the Toronto International Art Fair / Art Toronto for 8 years. Among the gallery’s formidable artists is Ernestine Tahedl, who was featured on Bravo’s documentary, ‘The Artist’s Life’. A 50 year retrospective show of her career is currently touring Europe. Pat Fairhead and Joanne Helman have recently exhibited in New York City. Another artist, Anne Marie Kornachuk, was featured in the summer edition of ‘International Artist’ magazine.
From bronze and soapstone sculpture to contemporary and traditional paintings, Trias Gallery has a wide range of original work available. The Gallery’s entire inventory can be seen at http://www.triasgallery.com
