FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Bronte – West Oakville BIA, December 17, 2007
The Bronte Village community is on the verge of exciting changes. With new interest, development, and revitalization occurring all over the Bronte area, the relevancy of the BIA is more important now that ever. The BIA itself has undergone some key changes and transitions in the past year with a new Board of Management and a change in staff.
In her new role, Ann will be working with the Board of Management on behalf of all Bronte-area merchants and businesses to increase the visibility and prominence of Bronte Village. A long-time resident of Bronte, Ann has been a witness to the changing face of Bronte Village - West Oakville community. Ann hopes that her skills in business management, government and stakeholder relations, marketing, tourism/hospitality, major event organization and her entrepreneurial background and spirit, will allow her to make a contribution to the Bronte Business Improvement Association. She sees Bronte Village as a neighbourhood for which there is tremendous opportunity!
Prior to joining the Bronte BIA as Executive Director, Ann served on the Board and as Chair of the Special Events Committee. Ann has enjoyed an extensive career, holding senior marketing and business development positions within the tourism and hospitality industry. She has been involved in many major project start-ups for hotels, resorts, theme parks, in addition to being a former Vice-President of the Toronto Convention and Visitors Association and Executive Director of Attractions Ontario, the provincial attractions organization. More recently, Ann was a Senior Investment Consultant for the Ministry of Tourism and Recreation, Investment and Development Office. Ann was part of a consulting team liaising with Ontario Tourism Industry stakeholders, BIA’s, and Ontario Economic Development Agencies in new product development and benchmarking initiatives to attract investment, and increase capacity for tourism to all areas of the province. Ann hopes that her skills in association business management, government and stakeholder relations, marketing, tourism/hospitality, product development, investment attraction and in being an entrepreneur in her own business, will allow her to make a contribution to the Bronte Business Improvement Association.
“We are very excited about the energy and experience that Ann brings to Bronte’s Board of Management team”, said Murray McDonald, Chair of the Board of Directors. “Ann’s proven leadership and marketing background and past career accomplishments are the perfect combination to lead the organization into new opportunities for continued growth”.
